One big change we made this year was to take our Review Time - outside! We are incredibly blessed here in California with fabulous weather, and so, we decided to take advantage of that. We are also heavy with boys in our large group. Giving them a little more space and fresh air has been a positive.
Eventually, my cousin created large laminated name tags to help students stay in place. I'm sure you can imagine how they tended to drift towards their buddies.
This week we studied the artist Auguste Rodin. We were working with clay, and the goal was to use a tool to carve away tiny strips of clay - not to pinch and mold it. The little ones had trouble fighting their natural inclination to play with and mold the clay. That's okay. The bigger kids hit closer to the mark.
